Western Extension of Boundary between European and Iberian Plates during the Pyrenean Orogeny*

چکیده
-The kinematics of the Eocene episode of compression between the Iberian and European plates is examined. It is p r o p d that the boundary between the two plates extended West of the Pyrenees, dong the Spanish marginal trench to end West of King's trough at a triple point junction. The pole of relative rotation computed within this hypothesis lies near5g0N; 62"W and the resulting shortening along the Pyrenees is about 50 km dong 45"E. -

New geodynamical model for the regional Tertiary extension during the Zagros orogeny: A transtensional arc?
The Zagros orogeny in Iran is associated with two successive geodynamic events during the Tertiary period, a Paleogene NE-directed regional crustal extension followed by a Miocene NW-directed regional crustal extension and a magmatic flare-up. The current study was undertaken to reanalyze previous structural work developed on the extensional Chapedony metamorphic core complex in Central Iran ex...

The vertebrate recovery after the end-Permian mass extinction can be approached through the ichnological record, which is much more abundant than body fossils. The late Olenekian (Early Triassic) tetrapod ichnoassemblage of the Catalan Pyrenean Basin is the most complete and diverse of this age from Western Tethys. This extensional basin, composed of several depocenters, was formed in the lates...

Postglacial dispersal patterns and mitochondrial genetic structure of the Pyrenean desman (Galemys pyrenaicus) in the northwestern region of the Iberian Peninsula
The genetic structure of small semiaquatic animals may be influenced by dispersal across both rivers and land. The relative importance of these two modes of dispersal may vary across different species and with ecological conditions and evolutionary periods. The Pyrenean desman (Galemys pyrenaicus) is an endemic mammal of the Iberian Peninsula with a strong phylogeographic structure and semiaqua...
متن کاملGenetic epidemiology of Sarcoptes scabiei in the Iberian wolf in Asturias, Spain.
BACKGROUND During the last decades, attempts have been made to understand the molecular epidemiology of Sarcoptes scabiei, and to detect and clarify the differences between isolates from different hosts and geographic regions. Two main phenomena have been described: (i) host-taxon derived-Sarcoptes mite infection in European wild animals (revealing the presence of three separate clusters, namel...
